Our last adventure was sensational and cold . We settled for Loch Long in the Arrochar alps . Sheltered behind the mountain our special task was to find out if any type of fish live there . With magnificent scenery and weather to die for we paddle towards our secret mark . Our frozen fingers soon defrosted with the frantic reel action . It was codling and flat fish and repeat , more and more of those little fish . And then my rod shook and trembled , this was the sound of mackerel . Mid February , arctic weather and the mackerel are back .
On a serious note , bait fishing deep down is probably the best bet .
